The Most Profitable Sectors in Real Estate | Daniel Kwak & Zain Jaffer
Saturday Dec 05, 2020
Saturday Dec 05, 2020
As we begin the concluding part of the conversation, our guest seeks to know what I feel real estate holds for me in the future.
I relay that I have interests in family housing, industrial warehouses, hotels, and vacation housing. Investing in office space is tricky right now because remote work is becoming more popular due to Covid-19.
Moving forward, Daniel also seeks to know what real estate area I’m investing in the most among the ones I already mentioned. I explain to him that my company is focusing on real estate in non-coastal cities, as the business has been profitable in them. I also break down with percentages on how we spread our investment across different areas in the real estate space.
Our guest reveals that his company is investing in similar areas like mine. However, he says that he’s not really investing in family housing right now because he is working on an extremely large project as directed to him by God.
With high spirits, we end this conversation on a note of camaraderie as Daniel professes that he thoroughly enjoyed our discussion, as do I.

Significance of Technology in Property Management | Daniel Kwak & Zain Jaffer
Wednesday Dec 02, 2020
Wednesday Dec 02, 2020
My conversation with Daniel Kwak continues with the question of whether it is advantageous to begin a career in real estate as a middle man. Daniel postulates that this depends on the goals and aspirations of the individual.
Next, we talk about the pros and cons of using in-house management in real estate. Our guest suggests that it is advantageous. He also lets in on a trick used by his colleagues to earn more money in property management.
As we converse further, Daniel explores the importance of technology to property management in relation to his personal experience. He narrates events in which property management firms charged too much for minor services. Apparently, this led him to start working on property management software with his brother.
In particular reference to reporting, Daniel explains how technology affects property management. He reveals some features of the software he is working on that enables effective reporting. Also, he relays how software can help repeal repetitive processes in managing the property.
Daniel and I end this part of our conversation by commenting on the grave importance of technology in real estate, especially in the nearest future.

From South Side Chicago to Entrepreneurship - Zain Jaffer with Kwak Brothers
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
Saturday Nov 28, 2020
Our guest in this video, Daniel Kwak, is a real estate entrepreneur and a youth mentor. His parents were immigrants from South Korea. As we begin, he explains that he grew up poor and had uneventful teenage years.
Going on, he relays how growing up poor shaped his entrepreneurial mindset. “My parents gave me the gift of poverty,” he says. According to him, the poverty he experienced as a child is one of the factors that contributed to making him what he is today.
Later, I also narrate my experiences as an immigrant to Daniel and how they contributed to my growth too. Afterward, Daniel and I share with each other how we got into real estate and how we became entrepreneurs.
As we slowly end the first part of our conversation, we discuss the importance of tech in industries and entrepreneurship. Specifically, we talk about technology in the real estate sector, its growth, and how it affects the market in the long and short run.

Importance of Technology in PropTech & Real Estate! | Jacob Blackett & Zain Jaffer
Thursday Nov 19, 2020
Thursday Nov 19, 2020
The discussion continues with Jacob elucidating that he is presently focusing on syndication technology software engineering more than the real estate business. Zain asks Jacob if software engineering is more lucrative than real estate, and he answers affirmatively.
He further emphasizes how leveraging software instigated exponential growth in his company.
Talking more about the relationship between real estate and technology, Zain implores Jacob to explain how technology can improve real estate physically. In turn, Jacob talks about renewable energy and self-sustaining homes. He also explicates the importance of sleep.
Delving fully into bedroom décor, Jacob explains the mechanism of Sleep Canvas: A device that improves the quality of sleep by regulating temperature, drowning out noise, and generally filtering the area. He says that the inspiration to create Sleep Canvas emanated from his own personal experience.
The conversation ends with Zain talking to Jacob about the growth of his marketing firm. He concludes that the founder’s competence matters in the growth of a start-up.
==========================
Jacob is the founder of several businesses including:
- SyndicationPro — a platform to scale real estate syndications.
- Holdfolio — a real estate crowdfunding portal.
- Six10 Management — property management and construction.
Jacob closed on his first multifamily acquisition deal in March of 2017, syndicating a 46-unit project to 34 different investors.
Jacob Blackett began his real estate career in 2010, starting with fix and flips to buying and holding single-family homes to multifamily syndications. Since then, Jacob founded Holdfolio in 2014 and SyndicationPro in 2018. Today, he manages over 1,200 multifamily units and has placed over $40M into income-producing real estate
